The hugely successful international crime writing convention returns to Bristol for a 10th year. The team have published an anthology in celebration of this milestone and are looking forward to a fabulous event with Martina Cole as a Featured Author.
Full Pass holders attending CRIMEFEST in 2018 receive a complimentary copy of the Ten Year Stretch: Celebrating A Decade Of CrimeFest anthology, published in the UK by No Exit Press and in the US by Poisoned Pen Press. Buy TICKETS now to guarantee your complimentary copy.
More big-name authors participating include Peter James, Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, Gunnar Staalesen, Lee Child and Jeffery Deaver – and this year will see John Banville (aka Benjamin Black) and John Simenon, son of the great Georges Simenon, being interviewed by Maxim Jakubowski. In ‘Maigret and Beyond’, delegates will find out how John Simenon keeps his father’s legacy alive for fans of the legendary Maigret police procedurals. John Banville is one of those fans but is, of course, a highly respected novelist as well, having written – in the guise of Benjamin Black – the much loved Quirke books and his one-off continuation of Raymond Chandler’s Marlowe series.
As well as lots of author panels discussing everything crime-writing related under the sun, moon and stars, CrimeFest also hosts Pitch an Agent and One-on-One Manuscript Assessment. Then there’s Mike Ripley’s famous quiz (with Peter Guttridge as his lovely assistant) and something called Feel the Author… we can imagine, but we’re not entirely sure we want to. For full details of all this and much, much more see the CrimeFest PROGRAMME.
Don’t forget, the CWA Dagger longlists, including the Debut Dagger, are announced at CrimeFest on the Friday evening and the winner of the CWA Margery Allingham Short Story Competition is announced. Always a lively event!
