The Crime Writers’ Association

Morecambe & Vice Crime Writing Festival

Authors Peter Robinson, Frances Brody, Elly Griffiths, Sarah Hilary, Mari Hannah and many more participate in a fabulous selection of events at Morecambe’s iconic Winter Gardens over the last weekend of September. Beginning with a Murder Mystery at the art deco Midland Hotel perched right on the edge of the beach, the weekend, now in its second year, is rapidly attaining must-attend status. With the astounding views over Morecambe Bay and the back-in-time ambience of the Winter Gardens, it has a charm all its own. Here are just a selection of the delights in store.

The Northern Invasion: Writers from the North unite in discussion. Nick Oldham, Robert Parker, Ruth Sutton & Roz Watkins with participating moderator MW Craven.

Crossing Sides: Frances Brody, Sue Welfare, James Swallow & CJ Skuse discuss working in more than one genre. Participating moderator is Elly Griffiths.

Life Backstage: Sam Blake, Sam Eades, Angela McMahon & Ellen Gallagher all work in publishing or promotion and are here to discuss tricks of the trade. Moderator: William Shaw.

The Masterclass: Members of the popular ‘Crime Writing Masterclass’ David Mark, Kate Bendelow & Neil White are here to help you plan the perfect crime. Participating Moderator: Graham Bartlett.

Then there are sessions about music in crime, about Agatha Christie’s theatrical career, about writing for both the page and the stage and new TV series The Bay.

Full details are here.

Tickets are £5 per panel, £25 per day or £40 for the whole weekend, with the extra events on Friday and Saturday evenings optional (and very desirable) extras.
