The world-class, award-winning Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, now in its 15th year, returns to the magnificent Old Swan Hotel this summer from the 19-22 July. Celebrating the very best in crime fiction, the Festival is a firm date in the literary calendar and has achieved international acclaim for the programming, organisation and atmosphere.

With Lee Child at the helm as Programming Chair for 2018, we’re looking forward to a really exciting programme. Authors who will be holding forth include luminaries such as Denise Mina, Don Winslow, Andrew Taylor, Antonia Hodgson, Erin Kelly, Simon Mayo, John Grisham, Sophie Hannah, Nicci French – and many more, including quizzes, Crime Room 101 with Richard Osman and the famous New Blood panel with Val McDermid.

Tickets can be purchased for individual events or for full days or the full weekend. Hotel packages are also available: for full details pop along here. Box office: 01423 562 303.

“The Theakston Old Peculier Crime Festival is the best in the world – and I know, because I’ve done all of them” – Lee Child, author
