When young amateur sleuth Amy Rowlings finds she has a little time on her hands, she is delighted to be asked to help Inspector Bodkin solve a very complex murder case.

Gang member Lonnie Firth has been found bludgeoned to death. The problem is, Bodkin investigated Lonnie’s killing three years before. How can someone be murdered twice?

Amy and Bodkin are soon immersed in the murky world of gangland politics, and they find that three rival gang leaders had very good reasons to want Lonnie out of the way. None more so than the devious girlfriend of Lonnie’s brother, Dora ‘Birdie’ Lark.

As the investigation gains momentum, Amy meets up with the beautiful but highly dangerous redhead, Bessie Dagger, and one of her henchmen, Mervin Challenger.
