She vanished without a trace.

Then a famous publisher was the next to disappear…

Nobody noticed when Rosemary Cope stopped showing up.

That was exactly how she’d always wanted it.

The nineteen year old had spent years learning how to remain anonymous. Detective Inspector Whipton Barton investigates her disappearance, asking the questions no one else thought to ask.

Then, six months later, and without warning a flamboyant publisher goes missing as well.

From the streets of Exeter to the cut-throat corridors of modern publishing, Barton and Brooks unravel the disappearances built on secrets, stories, and jealousy. And somewhere at the heart of it all, a podcast starts to reveal the story.

“A clever, character-driven mystery that celebrates the transformative power of storytelling, while exposing its darkest possibilities.”
