After working in the Local History archives at a London library and taking a degree first in History with London University then in Science with the Open University I joined the staff at London University’s Birkbeck, in a Post Graduate department focussed on Medical Research. My interest in the history of medicine was growing and surrounded by doctors and scientists my first novel was always going to be based in that world.
Resurrection is based mainly in London, in the medical world of 1830. Janet Brown, my heroine, is working in the home of Doctor Knox after he has fled Edinburgh and whilst seeking revenge for the murder of her friend Mary, Janet is caught up in the life of the Anatomy School and its students, and when one is found murdered she helps uncover the killer.
I completed Resurrection during Lockdown and found a publisher in Sarah Williams at Serenade Publishing, just outside Brisbane, Australia. It is available on Amazon or direct from myself, or in the library and local bookshop at Downham Market, Norfolk, UK.
Other Awards
I was encouraged to write when I sent an early draft of my book to the National Centre for Writing based in Norwich. In collaboration with the Arts Council they offered a few lucky writers a professional critique of their work and when I was among those chosen in 2020 I was thrilled.
