Neville Blackwood
Neville Blackwood is the author of Covert, published by Cranthorpe Millner in August 2026.
He spent 30 years in UK policing, retiring as a Detective Superintendent and Police Adviser at the Foreign Office. During his career, he investigated and managed serious and organised crime, homicide, terrorism, fraud, corruption, kidnap and major covert operations involving undercover officers, surveillance teams and informants.
For the past 14 years, Neville has advised governments and law-enforcement agencies in many countries, including the Maldives, the Caribbean, the Balkans, Iraq, Somalia and Pakistan, helping to develop investigators and senior police leaders.
He holds a degree in English Language and Literature and an MSc in International Policing. He is a trained and experienced police Senior Investigating Officer and war crimes specialist adviser.
Drawing directly on his operational experience, Covert offers an authentic insight into the hidden world of undercover policing, intelligence development and organised crime.
The novel’s authenticity has been consistently highlighted by reviewers. Peter Walsh, co-author of The Betrayer, the book that inspired the hit Netflix series Legends, wrote:
“Few recent crime novels can have had a more authentic insider’s perspective—and every scene feels real.”
Neville’s second novel, set against the violence, corruption and political tensions of modern Jamaica is due for publication in 2027.
