Stephen Cox
My gateway drug into crime was Sherlock Holmes, and I ploughed through the Golden Age classics before university.
I’ve worked running comms for a number of high profile organisations including Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Chelsea and Westminster during the pandemic. My background is as a voracious reader, scientist, muser on big questions, and a Quaker. I’m bi and a parent.
My two traditionally published novels are Our Child of the Stars and Our Child of Two Worlds. My third novel, the Crooked Medium’s Guide to Murder was described as ‘… a devilish dance through Victorian fakery… a story that’s mysterious, driven and, above all, great fun to read.’ The second book, the Crooked Medium’s Guide to Terror, is out 14th Sept worldwide. “An absolute page-turner that masterfully blends Victorian crime with unearthly menace.”
Warm, witty, and with sapphic women sleuths.
Generally everything I write has some speculative element, but I usually stick to one of the old rules of fair play – what the detective knows, the reader knows.
