Charlie Garratt grew up in Manchester, moving to Coventry at the age of 18 to train as a telecommunications engineer. Increasing involvement in his local community led Charlie to a change of career and over thirty years in the field of community development across the United Kingdom.
He is author and co-author of a number of books and guides on community participation and community development. The almost-accidental joining of a writers’ group after moving to Ireland led Charlie to expand on his published non-fiction into writing short stories, a play for radio and eventually his first novel, A Shadowed Livery, due to be released by Holland House in April 2015. He is currently working on a sequel, as yet untitled, also set in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Charlie now lives in Donegal, Ireland where he writes, plays guitar and grows vegetables to fill his days.
