Tom Herrington
I’m an indie author now residing in rural Sussex, where I tend to wander through the woods or along the beaches, creating stories about the odd, the overlooked, and the stubbornly human.
Author of:
- Black Toad — a darkly amusing Cornish gothic thriller. My favourite review to date, and I could argue I never need write ever again – ‘Rebecca meets League of Gentlemen.’
- The Cursed Inn — a Regency style Christmas ghost story (Serialised for free on Substack & in full print and Kindle on the 9th December) — It’s also a prequel to Black Toad 😉
- The Weasel — The expansive sequel to Black Toad – Just when you thought it couldn’t get any twistier, or darker…(I’m aiming to get this ready for next December – can’t rush it).
- Grinteeth — This is my bit on the side. Set near Battle in East Sussex, Grinteeth is a genuinely frightening folk-horror based on on the classic haunted-house trope. The new housing estate has been built on the true site of the battle of Hastings – Doh! What could possibly go wrong..? A lot as it goes. I frightened myself so much writing this last year, that I became chronically anxious, so I buried it. I will finish it — at some point.
I write with one foot in the natural world, one in folklore, and a hand ready on the throat of any wrongdoer who wanders onto the page. No one is sacred.
