Martta Kaukonen

Martta Kaukonen (1976) lives in Helsinki, Finland. Before becoming a full-time author, she worked as a film critic, whose reviews have been published in both Finland’s biggest newspaper Helsingin Sanomat and a popular women’s weekly magazine Me Naiset. Martta has a master’s degree in arts. Martta met her husband at a second hand bookshop and fell in love. FOLLOW THE BUTTERFLY was published in Britain in March 2024 by Pushkin Press. The translations rights of Follow the Butterfly have been sold to 16 countries (e.g. United states and Egypt) and three continents. Follow the Butterfly is a bestseller in Germany and Italy. The Times’s critic Mark Sanderson wrote of Follow the Butterfly: “A brilliant game of cat and mouse between author and reader.” Literary Review chose the novel as one of the best crime novels of 2024. There is a tv series in the making in Germany based on the book.

The sequel MEET ME IN THE DARKNESS will be published in 4 June 2026 by Pushkin Press.
