Martin Sterling
Martin Sterling is a writer with more than thirty years’ experience across television, books and theatre. A former Coronation Street scriptwriter and senior storyliner, he worked on more than 4000 episodes and became known for creating and writing strong, memorable female characters.
He has co-authored several books previously, including the Sunday Times bestseller Morecambe & Wise: Behind The Sunshine in 1994; Cary Grant: In Name Only in 2001; Martinis, Girls and Guns: 50 Years of James Bond in 2002; and the Amazon #1 bestselling memoir of Yvette Fielding, Scream Queen, in 2024.
He published his first novel, The Most Famous Man In The World, in April 2025.
His debut crime novel, We Create Monsters, is the first in a Manchester-set series featuring DI Kate Stiles and is a sharp, darkly witty thriller drawing on his inside knowledge of television drama.
The stage thriller Framed, which Martin wrote in 2005, was described by one critic as “Agatha Christie on speed’ and went on a 25-week national tour. It was revived in 2011 and is being developed for television.
Martin was born in Greater Manchester and now lives in Norfolk.
He is represented by United Agents.
