I’m a writer, former educator, business consultant and magistrate based in County Durham. Over the past two decades, I’ve worked as a teacher, lecturer, academic, and consultant in the UK and as far away as Kurdistan. My published non-fiction spans leadership textbook chapters, practitioner and peer-reviewed articles, while my creative work includes short scripts, audio plays, and poetry,.
I began writing fiction in 2017, during a trekking trip in the Himalayas, when story ideas surfaced. Since then, I’ve written two other books, numerous short stories, plays, and poems. Writing is a compulsion. I don’t really feel creative: I’m just susceptible to the characters who turn up and won’t be quiet until they’re inscribed on the page.
Shotley Bridge Murders started as something to make my friends giggle. Until it took over, and then this book was born. I loved writing it. The next instalment of Heather Hudson’s adventures, Shotley Bridge Revenge, is nearly complete and scheduled for publication in the summer of 2026.
