A Granite Silence is both True Crime and Fiction. It’s a novel about how we write crime, and how we write history, and how we write fiction. Set in Abderdeen in both 1934 and shortly after the Covid Pandemic, it moves between the real and the fantastical to interrogate the craft of narrative, and explores the role of social class and gender in how we understand crime.
