Loftus Brown studied a modern languages degree at university, which included modules on literary translation. Ever since, they have enjoyed creative writing in their free time. Translating to and from English has provided them with an appreciation for simplicity, and the corresponding pleasure of an unexpected flourish. They have been fortunate to travel extensively over the past 15 years, including all of the locations featured in this novel. They draw these experiences into their writing.
