Bahadur Is My Name

A retired Gurkha searches for a missing Afghan girl in this modern-day crime thriller with poignant themes of organised crime and the challenges facing refugees. This novel starts on the shores of Dover, and spans Nepal and Afghanistan.

Loftus Brown studied a modern languages degree at university, which included modules on literary translation. Ever since, he has enjoyed creative writing in his free time. Translating to and from English has provided him with an appreciation for simplicity, and the corresponding pleasure of an unexpected flourish. Loftus has been fortunate to travel extensively over the past 15 years, including all of the locations featured in this novel. He draws these experiences into his writing. Loftus was recently a finalist in the 2024 Exeter Novel Prize.
