Excellent characterization and a well-plotted stand-alone psychological thriller where little is as it seems. A convincing dual-time storyline builds up in an unusual French setting carrying a sense of foreboding and quiet menace throughout. Slow delivery of information together with the underlying tension ratchets up the suspense to a nail-biting conclusion.
