The Fixer is inspired by Lorna’s personal experience of the Libor banking scandal. Her husband was one of the bankers imprisoned for four years, leaving her to raise their 10-month-old daughter alone. Two bankers recently had their convictions overturned by the Supreme Court, reigniting interest in Libor and paving the way for Lorna’s husband to appeal his conviction. Her 25 years in journalism across newspapers, television and digital media inform Rebecca’s investigative journey. Through Curtis Brown Creative’s six month novel writing programme, Lorna shaped what began as an idea into a fully structured novel.
