Sapere Books is looking for debut crime fiction
My name is Amy Durant and I am the editorial director for Sapere Books. Sapere Books is a relatively new, digital-first publisher. We have had a lot of success with both contemporary and historical crime series, and we are keen to hear from new writers who have completed the first book in a planned series.
Although we are open to writers from all backgrounds, we are particularly looking to hear from writers from the BAME community. We have lots of fantastic crime writers on our list, including Chair of the CWA, Linda Stratmann, and Vice Chair Jean Briggs, but we don’t seem to be reaching BAME writers as a potential publisher for submissions.
Series work best for us, but we are also considering standalone thrillers, particularly domestic or psychological thrillers.
For modern crime, we love series which have a strong sense of place and a well-characterised main character, or crime-fighting partnership.
For historical crime, we are particularly interested in the Medieval, Tudor, Regency, Victorian and WWII time periods.
