Born in Sydney, Australia, Tim Baker moved to Italy in his early 20s and lived in Spain before moving to Paris, where he wrote about jazz. For over 5 years he was the director of consular operations at the Australian embassy in France, supervising offices in Paris, Rabat and Algiers and liaising with international police, judicial and intelligence authorities on numerous cases involving murder, kidnap, child abduction, hostage-taking, terrorism, suicide, assault, and disappearances. These experiences have informed the details of his novel, “The Long Oblivion.”  His short fiction has appeared in books published by Random House, Rodopi, and William Collins A&R, and his non-fiction in books published by Penguin, Time Out, and Facts on File. He co-wrote the feature film “Samsara” which premiered as an official selection at TIFF and has film projects in development in China, Brazil and Australia. He currently lives in the South of France with his wife, their son, and two rescue animals, a dog and a cat. He is working on a thriller set on the French Riviera, a novel featuring Picasso, and a novel about the Ciudad Juárez murders.
