Neil Richards
Neil Richards was lured into a life of crime-writing in 2013 by his NYC-based co-writer Matt Costello.
Until then he had worked in TV series, single dramas, children’s animation, film, games, web, radio, interactive as a producer, story editor, story executive, development executive and writer.
Portfolio career is the polite word for that lot. Mortgage and two kids to get through university, is a more accurate description.
Crime writing seems to have turned out quite well. Back in 2014 he and Matt pitched a novella crime series called Cherringham to Bastei Luebbe in Cologne. Bastei liked it. They’ve now written 38 novellas, 6 more commissioned. Oh and two novels. All also turned into audio-books read by the wonderful Neil Dudgeon.
Now they’re half-way through a new series of 9 novellas – Mydworth Mysteries – for Bastei and Red Dog Press. Audiobooks on the way 2020 read by Nat Parker.
Other Awards
Somewhere along the line, 4 BAFTA nominations, a WGGB nomination, and one or two other long-forgotten nominations. A win would be nice.
