CWA Dagger Results
The Crime Writers’ Association have revealed the winners of the 2015 Dagger Awards at their prestigious ceremony in London.
Authors and publishers gathered at the Hotel Russell on Tuesday 30th June for the presentation, which marks the end of Crime Reading Month (www.crimereadingmonth.co.uk).
The CWA International Dagger was awarded to Pierre Lemaitre for Camille (translated by Frank Wynne), The CWA Short Story Dagger was won by Richard Lange for Apocrypha and the CWA Non-Fiction Dagger was taken home by Dan Davies for In Plain Sight: The Life and Lies of Jimmy Savile. The Endeavour Historical Dagger was given to S.G. MacLean for The Seeker, The CWA Debut Dagger was won by Greg Keen for Last Of The Soho Legends and The Dagger In The Library, sponsored by Dead Good, was awarded to Christopher Fowler for his body of work.
The winners were joined by this year’s Diamond Dagger recipient Catherine Aird, who was honoured with the highest accolade in crime writing for her incredible career in the genre.
At the event, the shortlists were revealed for three further Daggers – The Goldsboro Gold Dagger, The John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger and the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger – as well as an exciting new initiative the CWA has created to showcase their shortlisted authors.
“This has been another incredible night for the world of crime writing,” says Lucy Santos, director of the CWA. “It’s the culmination of many months of work by our judges, readers, committee members and sponsors. All that effort is worth it because we’re constantly inspired and energised by the incredible talent on show. We’re delighted to be able to celebrate our winners’ achievements and to showcase the best of the best.
“That’s why we’re delighted to launch Dagger Reads soon and to announce our final shortlists. The next Dagger Awards cycle will begin on 1st August and we expect competition to be as fierce as ever. We can’t wait to find out who the next crop of Dagger winners will be.”
