S. Lee Manning
S. Lee Manning spent three years as an editor on Law Enforcement Communications before realizing that lawyers make a lot more money. A subsequent legal career took her from Wall Street to the Office of the Attorney General of NJ to the Public Defender and her own practice. In 2001, Manning chaired New Jerseyans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, speaking on television and radio in a campaign that ended in 2007 with the abolition of the death penalty in the state.
Now writing full time, Manning is the author of international thrillers, Trojan Horse, Nerve Attack, Bloody Soil, which feature a Russian-Jewish immigrant to the United States working for American intelligence. When she needs a break from the serious, she sometimes performs stand-up comedy and was a semi-finalist in Vermont’s funniest comic contest in 2019. She lives in Vermont with her husband James, the author of satiric political thrillers, and their very annoying cat Xiao.
