Casey Jones and the Case of the Prodigal Son
Feisty PI versus mafia don – no contest.
After 15 years in the Metropolitan police, Casey Jones leaves before she is pushed – calling your boss a tosser never turns out to be a good move. Plus her unconventional methods don’t fit well. For Casey, justice must be done even if it means bending a few rules. She sets up as a private investigator and sits twiddling her thumbs until her old mentor feeds her a job. A fourteen-year-old boy disappeared five weeks ago and the police have given up on the case – nothing to suggest there is anything criminal in his disappearance. Don’t despair – Casey’s on the case.
The search means she has to seeks a favour from the East End mafia boss – the boy’s money will have run out and by now he will be on the streets. She will have to take him away from his pimp and she needs clearance from Marcuse, the don, for that.
Meanwhile, as Casey trawls through the seamy side of London, she is being hunted by a stalker whose methods become more and more extreme – Casey knows it can only end in death. But whose?
