The Crime Writers’ Association

Detective Novels and the First World War

8 March: History Seminar at University of Westminster

In this talk Professor Jane Mattisson Ekstam of Østfold University College, Norway, discusses the relationship between detective novels and representation of the First World War. That war provides a particularly fertile context for examining human motivation and suffering, and for looking at ways of dealing with crime in war and peace, not least in Britain where the majority of war-related detective fiction was produced.

5.00pm – 6.30pm, followed by a drinks reception in:

RS 351, University of Westminster, Regent Street Campus,

309 Regent Street, London W1B 2HW
