Screening of classic crime film Thief in Liverpool with talk

Dr Steven Powell will be giving an introductory talk before a special screening of Michael Mann’s Thief (1981) at Picturehouse at FACT cinema in Liverpool on Saturday March 10th at 12 noon. It’s a classic neo-noir film and is based on the very rare book The Home Invaders: Confessions of a Cat Burglar by Frank Hohimer (pseudonym of John Seybold, a real-life cat burglar).

Please note you need to reserve your ticket by March 4.

Thief is a seminal neo-noir crime film which launched the spectacular directorial career of Michael Mann. James Caan plays Frank, a professional thief from Chicago. After pulling off a heist that brings him into direct contact with the Mafia, Frank agrees to do a high-risk robbery for them. Caught between his desire to go straight and the demands of the gangsters he is working for, Frank soon finds himself in an impossible situation from which the only escape will be violent. Thief is one of the greatest crime films of the 1980s.
