Hot Lead and Cold Steel
brand new Western adventure from Clay More!
Doctor Brodie Buchanan, a young Scottish surgeon, had built a successful medical practice in Philadelphia when the Civil War broke out. After a personal tragedy, he took up a position as a contract surgeon with the Philadelphia Brigade of the Union Army. When he first saw conflict and the mass of maimed and bloodied bodies, he hardly cared whether he would come through it all. But dealing with the wounded from the battlefields, he realized that men depended on his surgical skills. That gave him a renewed purpose.
Being transferred ever westwards, he found himself in the trans-Mississippi theater of the war where the brutality of war had seen the rise of men like William Quantrill and Bloody Bill Anderson. Yet he soon discovered that in addition to them, he had enemies on his own side. The carnage from hot lead had to be countered by the cold steel of his scalpel if he himself was to survive.
