Sherlock Holmes and the Legend of the Great Auk
Linda Stratmann
Works of: Fiction
At the unveiling of a specimen of the extinct great auk at the British Museum, ornithologist Charles Smith accuses the museum of fraud and launches an attack on the exhibit which Holmes is able to subdue. Holmes is asked to prove the exhibit is genuine to save the museum’s reputation, but it appears that the experts have something potentially devastating to hide.
When Smith is found murdered the police think it was a random robbery but when Holmes examines the crime scene, he is sure there is more to it.
Holmes is also engaged in the mystery of the great auk by the grandson and granddaughter of Sir Andrew, as their family name is threatened, and finds evidence of an attempt on both their lives.
As always Holmes is aided by his loyal friend Stamford, whose attempts at sleuthing result in a truly shocking experience.
