Winter arrives earlier than anticipated for George White. He was already housebound and reliant on carers, but no one expected the cheeky octogenarian to be murdered. What motive could there be? As DCI Suzanna McLeod digs into his past, a darker side becomes evident, and a number of suspects emerge. The investigation leads them into the realm of Edinburgh’s prostitution rackets and sex trafficking. Suzanna’s worry is that George’s murder could be the first in a series. The chase is on to find the murderer before they strike again.

4-star – I hadn’t read any of the earlier books and this stands well as a story in its own right. Good, well developed characters and a strong story line, which will keep you guessing.

4-star – I love the way Harry Navinski puts so much detail into describing locations and people because they are Crime novels, and you never know which bit of the detail will be relevant to the investigation and final conviction of the criminal(s).

4-star – I liked the setting of Edinburgh, the plotting of this book, the fast pacing and the characterisation was believable. I could empathise with some characters and I genuinely liked Suzanna, she is dogged and determined in her quest to find the killer. The pace was steady and kept me interested until the end. This is an excellent addition from the author and I would recommend the read to lovers of the genre. I do hope there is more to come from the character.
