Sam Blake
Sam Blake has been writing fiction since her husband set sail across the Atlantic for eight weeks and she had an idea for a book. Her debut novel ‘Little Bones’ (Bonnier 2016) was a runaway bestseller. Across all her books Sam has been a multiple No 1 bestseller, and her books have been listed in the Irish top ten for over fifty weeks. Both her first novel ‘Little Bones’ , ‘The Dark Room’ and ‘Remember My Name’ were shortlisted for Irish Crime Novel of the Year. Her YA titles Something Terrible Happened Last Night and Something’s About to Blow Up, were shortlisted for Irish Teen/YA Novel of the Year in 2023 and 2024, with Something’s About to Blow Up winning in 2024.

Sam Blake is a pseudonym for Vanessa Fox O’Loughlin, the founder of The Inkwell Group publishing consultancy and the award winning national writing resources website Writing.ie. She is Ireland’s leading literary scout who has assisted many award winning and bestselling authors to publication.
Vanessa/Sam is Chair of the Society of Authors and the a previous board member of the CWA. She is also the founder of the Murder ONE International Crime Writing Festival.
