Sanjay Dharwadker

Sanjay Dharwadker is a Johannesburg based author. His latest novel, Forbundsby appears on substack, one chapter a week, and is a Copenhagen based international thriller, on the lives (and death) of humanitarian workers.

His debut novel, Diamond in My Palm, is a murder mystery based in India and South Africa, with diamonds as its priceless backdrop.

Born and educated in India, he travelled and worked in Europe for over a decade, on digital identity, public policy, human rights, government documents and biometrics.

Diamond in my Palm starts as a post-colonial exploration of the two exceptional colonies of the empire, India and South Africa, that turns into a longer and deeper saga about the travails of mortality set against the eternity of diamonds.

Forbundsby is a fast-paced thriller based on the lives of international humanitarian workers in Copenhagen, as their lives change due to the changing politics of our time, and appears in chapters on substack.

Philosopher’s Mistress is yet another novel, set in India and the Netherlands, a murder mystery that spans a generation of changing times, across the developed and the developing world. It will shortly appear on substack as well.

Besides Delhi and Johannesburg, he has lived in Copenhagen, and the historical town of Utrecht, not far from Amsterdam, cities that have all inspired his writing.
