Nick Edmunds
I live in Stirling, Scotland, with my wife Helen and our spaniel. After decades as a doctor in Scotland, I draw some of my inspiration from countless interactions with people, their lives and experiences, and the stories they told. My interest in humans and their minds means psychology influences my writing, and like our brains, my tales can be full of twists and turns. My head is full of stories.
LATEST NEWS: FLOWERS FOR THE SLAUGHTERMAN, book two in the Flint & Masson Crime Series, published 2nd Dec ’25
It’s 1983. Flint and Masson team up again in Aberdeen. Four years earlier, they had unmasked a serial killer in Miles Away (published 2022). PC Masson is convinced a man charged with murder is innocent. He entices dishevelled botany graduate Flint to leave his menial job and help him clear the accused man’s name. To do so, they must confront the real murderer — before the next victim is crossed off the kill list.
Early reviewers have been thrilled by Flowers for the Slaughterman:
“Well plotted, fast-paced thriller with believable characters. A worthy and dramatic finale. Highly recommended.“
“Kept me in suspense right up to the big reveal; a clever twist in the finale; plenty of red herrings to keep lovers of this genre happy“
“Thrilling and gripping; full of fantastic characters.“
MILES AWAY — Memories Can Kill was my debut novel. In 2022, it featured at the prestigious Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival. Miles Away is a twisty crime thriller set in Scotland in the 1970s.
RAGGED ISLAND, my international crime thriller, was published in June ’25, and speculates on some potential outcomes of recent real international events. Set in 2030, by which time the world’s old order has been scrambled, Ragged Island is a story of betrayal in the Caribbean. A refugee fleeing war in the USA is shipwrecked on a remote island. Escaping horrors there, he later uncovers deadly secrets. Revenge means facing even greater perils — and a return to Ragged Island.
Reviews of Ragged Island:
“A powerful and very timely novel that will stay with you” – iScot Magazine, July 2025
“Brilliantly conceived geopolitical thriller, with elements of espionage, people trafficking and corporate greed” – John Harkin, Author
“Pacy, scary and (sadly) all too believable” – Belle Dean, Author
“a gripping premise… immediately immersing the reader in the chaos of a society on the brink.”
“Ragged Island now feels unsettlingly plausible.” — iScot Magazine, July 2025.
