Maxim Jakubowski

Maxim Jakubowski has worked in books almost all his life; he worked in senior editorial positions in publishing for several decades, owned the Murder One bookstore and was Time Out and then the Guardian’s crime reviewer for, respectively, 10 and 11 years; he now writes a monthly column for Crime Time

His first book was published when he was 16 and he shares his time and words between writing crime, erotica and SF & fantasy, editing, translating and writing on film and advising film festivals. He is now Editor at large for Bedford Square Publihers and No Exit Press.

He has published almost 100 anthologies, 24 novels and seven short story collections. His latest books are a novel, Manhattan Death Ballad, an anthology inspired by Hitchcock, Bird, Strangers and Psychos, and a story collection, Cruising the Coast of Nostalgia. Under another name he has written 10 novels in a separate genre that have sold several million copies and made the Sunday Times Top 10 bestseller list

He is currently the CWA Vice-Chair and Chairs the Crime Fiction in Translation Dagger.

He is a winner of the Anthony, Karel and David L. Goodis/Noircon awards.
