Bonnie MacBird
With degrees from Stanford in music and communications (film) Bonnie MacBird is a longtime vet of Hollywood where she’s worked as a studio feature film development executive (Universal), a screenwriter (TRON), a producer (three Emmys for documentary work), a playwright, theatre director, actor and audiobook reader. She currently writes full length Sherlock Holmes novels for HarperCollins –ART IN THE BLOOD (2015) , UNQUIET SPIRITS (2017), THE DEVIL’S DUE (2019), THE THREE LOCKS (2021), WHAT CHILD IS THIS? (2022) and THE SERPENT UNDER (2025). MacBird is on the council of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London, where she presented her adaptation of Conan Doyle’s THE BLUE CARBUNCLE over zoom during Covid. Bonnie is invested as “Art in the Blood” in the Baker Street Irregulars,(BSI) and as “The Professional Enthusiast” in The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes (ASH). She is also a member of MWA, Sisters in Crime, RSA, and CWA. She is married to computer scientist Alan Kay and lives in London, one block from Baker Street. A classically trained actor with many Los Angeles theatre credits, she is active in London with the Hampstead Players where she played the Nurse in ROMEO AND JULIET, and directed a production of BLUE STOCKINGS. She is at work on a new series for HarperCollins, THE MARYLEBONE MYSTERIES.
