Cal Moriarty
Cal Moriarty was born in London and after a childhood obsession with all things Agatha Christie became the UK’s youngest private eye, aged just 18. This experience forms the basis for her TV series ‘Pure’, currently in development. After a love of film led her to Los Angeles where she stayed for several years, she returned to the UK where she entered Cambridge University as a mature student to read English. After graduation she worked for Harry Potter / Lord of the Rings studio Warner Bros before embarking on two MA degrees one in playwriting and one in screenwriting. After working in both fields as an award-winning producer of new writing Cal embarked on the Faber Academy novel writing course. Faber bought her debut, The Killing of Bobbi Lomax from just its first three chapters. Bobbi Lomax was recently selected as one of the FT’s Top 5 Crime Novels and described by Literary Week as ‘one of the best thrillers of the past five years’ and by the London Times as a ‘total wow of a debut”. Cal is currently working on her second novel for Faber; Ten of Swords, due to be published in 2018.
