Roger Silverwood
Sub-genre: Crime Thriller, mystery
Roger is a Yorkshireman. He was born and lives in Barnsley. He went to boarding-school in Gloucestershire where he founded a school magazine which grew from strength to strength until the headmaster banned it. Then he was conscripted into the army for National Service where he spent most of the time in Germany. He came out of the army and got a job selling toys and soon became sales director and sold more than a million Sooty xylophones. Subsequently, he went into business with his wife and they sold antique jewellery throughout the North of England. However, in 1969 he had an accident and was unable to walk for 18 months, and so he began to write in bed. As he improved in health he took a job as a copywriter in an advertising agency whilst still feverishly writing in the evenings and weekends. His first book was published in 1971.
Roger has written 30 full length hardback novels and 3 plays. He writes books mostly about his well known policeman, Inspector Angel. This well loved character has appeared in 27 books and is sold in every English speaking country in the world. All his titles are also available on line. His latest Angel book is THE LIPSTICK MURDERS and he is writing another Angel story due out this year.
From November 2019, all the Inspector Angel titles will gradually be published at the same time in paperback in the UK and the US.
