Julie Wassmer
Julie Wassmer is a former television drama writer who worked on several TV series, including ITV’s London’s Burning, C5’s Family Affairs and the popular BBC soap, EastEnders, which she wrote for almost 20 years.
In 2010, her autobiography More Than Just Coincidence was published by Harper Collins. The book entered the Sunday Times Best Selling Non-Fiction Top Twenty and became Mumsnet Book of the Year.
Murder on the Downs is the seventh novel in Julie’s popular Whitstable Pearl Mystery series, published by Constable at Little, Brown Book Group. There are more books on the way of which The Daily Mail says: “True to the tradition of classic crime, she weaves a strong story into a setting that has more to offer than murder and mayhem. Can a television version be far behind?”
The television rights to the series have been optioned by the TV production company, Buccaneer – makers of Marcella, starring Anna Friel.
Julie has lived in Whitstable for 20 years and is well known for her environmental campaigning.
