Deborah Young

American writer and film critic Deborah Young was born in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Wellesley College. She received an M.A. in Cinema Studies from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Italian cinema brought her to Italy, where she has worked as a journalist and film critic, becoming the Rome bureau chief of Variety and then international film editor for The Hollywood Reporter. Her many adventures abroad offered first-hand material for her first novel, the Caribbean adventure thriller Pirates in Black Tie, which is being published by Europe Books in 2021. She lives in Rome.
