CWA Responds to Incident at Conference

“It has come to my attention that at the recent CWA conference, some members behaved in a way that was not in line with our aim to be an organisation that is welcoming to all writers, no matter their background or experience. This is incredibly disappointing. A conference is the perfect opportunity to learn from others and to engage positively with those we may not know. Such events must serve as spaces for mutual understanding, and it is the responsibility of every individual to act accordingly. We have in place a dignity and respect policy and I encourage all members to adhere to this. As CWA Chair, I want to send a strong message that behaviour that falls short of treating colleagues with respect is not welcome within the organisation.” ~ Vaseem Khan, Chair

Please note: This matter has been discussed with the person(s) affected and they have worked with us on the above response. They have requested that a line is now drawn under the incident. Their aim in highlighting this is simply to ensure that colleagues approach each other respectfully in future.
