As 1950s India emerges from the shadow of the Raj the frozen body of a white man is found in a cave in the foothills of the Himalayas. A wonderful evocation of place and range of characters are to be found here, especially that of the first female police officer. The puzzle, humour and history transport us to a bygone era – an excellently plotted and engaging detective story.
