Dagger in the Library nominations

Nominations for the 2024 Dagger in the Library are now closed. 

The Dagger in the Library is awarded to a UK crime writer every year. This year the names of nominated authors have been supplied by libraries and borrowers nationwide.

Each library in Britain or the Republic of Ireland has three votes and any person working there can vote – staff or volunteer.


Dagger in the Library 2024

Library staff and volunteers, please vote for the crime writer who in your opinion is both popular with your library users and who has done most to support libraries.

Up to three members of personnel (staff or volunteers) can vote from each UK or Irish library. Please vote by 6pm on 29 February 2024.

All the authors on the list have passed these eligibility criteria:

Up to three members of staff or volunteers from each British or Republic of Ireland library can vote.


Closing date for votes is 29 February 2024

The winner will be selected from those names with most votes. Our judges will be looking for the author who has offered support to libraries by taking part in events, as well as whose crime books – including ebooks and audio – have given pleasure to borrowers for a substantial period of time.
