Originally published in 1989 as On the Edge, this was filmed for TV as Dead Gorgeous, starring Helen McCrory and Fay Ripley. The 2002 edition under the new title was published by Time Warner. It was reissued by Sphere in 2014.
Two women who had important jobs as aircraft plotters during the second world war meet by chance in London in 1946. Both are bored by the drudgery of civilian life and both find they have something else in common: unsatisfactory husbands. Together, they think of a way of resolving the problem.
