CWA Dagger Awards Gala Dinner

The Daggers 2020 will be held online at a virtual ceremony on Thursday 22 October at 7.30pm. Tickets are free and everyone is welcome to attend.

We are pleased to confirm that our after-dinner speaker will be writer, broadcaster, dramatist and journalist Lynne Truss who is renowned not only as the author of the wonderful Eats, Shoots and Leaves but is also the writer of many books including comic crime novel A Shot in the Dark, starring Constable Twitten. Our MC will be esteemed crime writing expert and compere extraordinaire Barry Forshaw!!

The winners of the CWA Daggers including the Gold, the Ian Fleming Steel, the ALCS Gold for Non-fiction, the John Creasey (New Blood), the Sapere Books Historical Dagger, the Dagger in the Library and the Debut Dagger, will be announced on the night. The new Crime & Mystery Publisher Dagger will be awarded too.

Guests will be able to see Robert Goddard being presented with the elite Diamond Dagger for lifetime contribution to crime writing.

Tickets cost £90 (exclusive of VAT). CWA Members receive a discounted ticket at £80 (exclusive of VAT).



We have secured a limited number of rooms at Leonardo Royal Hotel London City for dinner guests (£187.50 per room + VAT, including an English breakfast). If you wish to book, please contact for reservation information.
