Wobble to Death won the Panther/Macmillan £1000 first crime novel contest in 1970 and has remained in print for over fifty years. Golden anniversary editions were published in Britain and America in 2020. Set mainly in the Agricultural Hall, Islington, the plot features an extraordinary form of endurance sport, a ‘go-as-you-please’ contest lasting six days and attracting a broad social spectrum of competitors. When sudden death occurs, Scotland Yard send Sergeant Cribb and Constable Thackeray to investigate.
