The Crime Writers’ Association

Perfect Crime One-Day Festival, Liverpool

Liverpool’s First Ever Crime Fiction Day

Perfect Crime UK is LIVE and IN PERSON this November, and have we got a lineup for you!

Ann Cleeves, creator of Vera and Shetland, will be appearing in two sessions at this all-day event for crime fans in Liverpool on Saturday 13th November, discussing with Elly Griffiths the marginal and coastal communities in their writing and chatting about forensic aspects of crime writing with pathologist Professor James Grieve.

Our star-studded line-up also features Sophie Hannah, Mel Sherratt, CWA Diamond Dagger winner Martin Edwards and Gold Dagger winner M W Craven.

Author panels will discuss all things crime, from Agatha Christie through gritty psychological thrillers, to murder on the Mersey. There will be a chance for readers to quiz their favourite authors, and to buy signed copies of their books – just in time for those hard-to-please relatives and friends at Christmas! And for aspiring writers, David Jackson will run a workshop on ‘writing the killer pitch’.

Perfect Crime is organised by local publisher Ian Skillicorn and Liverpool crime writers Margaret Murphy and Caz Finlay, who are also appearing at the festival.

When Liverpool hosted the British Science Association festival, Margaret helped to organise a head-to-head between crime writers and scientists. The university’s largest lecture hall sold out so fast that they had to arrange a second session. This was in 2008 – clearly Perfect Crime is long overdue – so we very much look forward to welcoming readers, writers, and crime experts from far and near to a rewarding day of discussion and entertaining chat from some of the top names in British crime fiction and non-fiction.
